Yosemite National Park, California. The prismatic form of the Agassiz Column is determined wholly by intersecting planes, vertical and oblique. The column is the last remnant of a rock mass that was divided by many such fractures. The cliffs about Yosemite Falls, in the background, are comparatively massive. The rows of bushes accentuate the few horizontal and oblique master joints which determine the principal sculptural features.
