So happy that I finally visited The Mauritshuis in The Hague! The museum houses primarily Dutch Golden Age paintings, but also shows a couple of beauties by Flemish artists like Pieter Breughel and Rogier van der Weyden.
It was built in the seventeenth century as a private home for Johan Maurits van Nassau, the governor of Brazil (a Dutch colony at that time). The Mauritshuis was nicknamed the 'Sugar House', as Governor van Nassau made a fortune on the backs of enslaved Africans whom he forced to work on sugar plantations in Brazil.

The Bridges of Europe
The architectural bridges found on euro bank notes never actually existed, until now: Dutch artist Robin Stam made the stylized bridges portrayed on the backs of the euro banknotes a reality. The seven bridges are constructed in a housing development in the Rotterdam suburb of Spijkenisse (The Netherlands). Hereby the gps coordinates for your own visit: 51°51'05.2"N 4°20'23.2"E.

A Very Merry Christmas from Charlemagne Palestine & me
An installation full of hugs and cuddles by Charlemagne Palestine @ Villa Empain, Brussels |
"In Island Song (1976), Charlemagne Palestine straps a video camera to a motorcycle and then drives around the island as though searching for an escape. His chanting voice merges with the vibrations of the motor, forming an incessant soundtrack that echoes the jarring motion of the camera."
